PAD Program

Since its launch in 2010, the Rainy River District Paramedic Services Public Access Defibrillation Program has been committed to saving lives in our communities by supporting and implementing public access defibrillation programs.

These programs can help save lives. For each minute that passes when sudden cardiac arrest strikes, the victim loses up to 10% chance of survival. Public access defibrillation programs, when properly set-up and maintained are able to deliver the first shock from an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the SCA victim within just 3 minutes. This quick response by trained responders or a Good Samaritan gives the victim a 70% chance of survival!

We currently assist with more that 70 units across the district. These AED's are registered with 911 dispatch so that bystanders can initiate early defibrillation.
